I came to France under the delusion impression that temps would not be as bitterly cold as they are at home and that snow would become a thing of the past. I am a delusional human being. Clearly I did not take into consideration that 1) it’s winter and 2) I live near the mountains 3) in central France, which might as well be the north — of course it’s going to be freezing and hello — it’s going to snow. And they say ignorance is bliss. False. The cold weather has been making me seriously rethink my winter wardrobe. Before moving, I parted ways with my trusty down coat that’s been with me through more than five years of blizzards, ice storms and a polar vortex or two. I love that coat, but it was starting to look a little rough, especially after the hood got partially ripped off by some oblivious fool in the subway, who thought grabbing my hood for support would be a good idea (WHY?!).
